Cine a fost pe la noi, vorbeste despre cum a fost si cum s-a simtit: MARIA CRISTINA I visited twice this month ATRA, with friends and family. Just for lunch. First time on 15th August. Although it was a holiday, with many customers, the service was fine; it is not a fast food to get up from the table in 15 minutes. It would be a shame for the beauty around you. And the cooking live show, on 24th August was an interesting experience. I even “stole” a few ideas from chef Ionut. Nice people, good food, wonderful view. The perfect place to relax. Even for a few hours. We”ll return with pleasure.
I organized my birthday party in this magnificent place. For the last kilometer I drove for 30 minutes because I drive a coupe and for that road you need a SUV or a tractor! When we finally arrived, we found a beautiful hotel with big and clean rooms, spectacular lake view and very nice people. Also the food is very good. One problem though, (subjective problem) the prices are very high!
Atra Doftana is an amazing place, the setting, with the lake and the valley of the river surrounded by mountains is breathtaking, and the entire place is gifted with beauty and goodness. The personnel is kind and thoughtful, at least most of the pople working there are, since in our recent stays at Atra probably we haven’t met all of them. It is an extraordinarely place for an amazing vacation.
This is really a very nice spot, featuring spectacular architecture and good interior design. I would say that is rather unique, at least atypical for local standards. It is modern, no touch of fake rustique feeling. All these come with a price to match – but you won’t be dissapointed. The rooms are cozy, spotless clean and offering beautiful views to surroundings. Unfortunately, there is no fridge and this is strange. The restaurant area is large and comfortable, styled as a lounge; even has a cheminee (which is a little noisy and works approximately). The staff is helpful. You get free access to sauna and fitness, if anyone interested. The only thing you need to worry about is the menu, as the selection of food is somewhat snobbish to hilarious (you can get octopus carpaccio, but no decent steak). The list is short, so if you stay for more than to days you will find yourself quicky out of options. Not only the selection of dishes seems out of place – and I am an open minded customer with normal expectations, it is also the poor quality of cooking that is annoying. Although we where only two- maximum four people eating there, food was cooked superficial, the meat tough as a shoe solel and the side dishes tasteless. As I mentioned, there is no fridge in the room, so self catering is out of question. There’s no other place to eat nearby, either. So, if it’s worth paying a little more for the quality accommodation, this doesn’t apply to food. Now, the good news is the wine list, and I must say that for me that is a consolation. Breakfast is decent, but then again, no sign of local produce, the cheeses and charcutterie being impersonal imported. I do hope they will manage to improve the food issue, which is the only thing stopping them from being perfect, and that is no exaggeration. This place is cool stuff.
I think this is the best place in Romania. The room is big and modern, the view is great (in summer and also in the winter) and the service is perfect. I was here many times and every time it seems even better And Gabi, the new manager, is a kind and warm person.
We had today our first lunch at Atra… I am saying the first because we will definetly come back for many others events. The location is stunning, the lake view is amazing, while the guest house is very nice and stylish. The stuff was very friendly, helpful and customer oriented. We got all their attention. We had the surprise to dicover that today they’ve organised a live cooking event… simply delicious. It is true that is not a cheap place to go, but deserves all the effort!!! Congrats to the owner for managing this affair!!! I am happy to discover such places in Romania!!! We will come back soon! Thank you!!!
